Carolina Gold BBQ Sauce

Carolina Gold BBQ sauce – it’s mustard based and a tad bit spicy. Let’s get started and fire up the BBQ!
Okay, I love mustard. Hot mustard is the only way to enjoy fries, and mustard on a chicken burger is just the right amount of zip. So, I wanted to try a BBQ sauce that was less sweet and more punchy – and here it is, this quick and easy gold sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon of agave
  • 2 teaspoons of soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of bird's eye chili
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of cider vinegar
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • First, mix all of the ingredients together.
  • Then, add to a small pot and heat until it starts to bubble. Once it starts to bubble simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  • Once it’s cool you can store up to about 5 days. Or, pour into a dish and eat with roasted fries right away. I marinated chicken drumsticks for about 12 hours in the Carolina gold BBQ sauce. Pour into a freezer bag and massage into the chicken for 2-3 minutes. Then, let it sit in the fridge for at least 3 hours before firing up the BBQ.
