Travel: 5 Days in Reykjavik
5 days in Reykjavik! We spent an amazing handful of days in this Northern European city – we ate, we saw, we lived! It was fantastic, from the food to the sights, the experience as a whole was unforgettable. We took the flybus from the airport into the city centre and saw a volcano erupting on our way. Wild, eh?!
Check out our photos below and we’ll dive into a few of our highlights. Photo time!

What a list of things we did – wow. I’ll admit, when we’re travelling we do like to keep busy, yet we also have a lot of downtime. I think I’ve shared before that we like to have a couple of hours between the day out and dinner to unwind, watch a show, and simply get off our feet if we’ve been walking all day. It doesn’t always happen, since sometimes we go-go-go right until dinner, yet that’s then balanced out with a big sleep-in and a slower morning.
Okay – regardless of how you travel, it’s important you do things that work for you and make you happy.
Day Zero
On our arrival day we checked into the hotel and had an awesome dinner at Sumac. The only other thing we did was check out a few grocery stores in prep for our hike. All in all, it was a low key day.
Day One
Below I’ll share with you some things we did on our first full day – the Blue Lagoon and Moss Restaurant. The perfect relaxation day after a busy few weeks.
The day was awesome, full of great conversation, relaxing downtime, and some Michelin star food.
Day Two
On our second full day we ventured out and about to see things around the city. Up first we did the Hallgrimskirkja Church, rainbow street, checked out Braud and Co., and also National Gallery and National Museum of Iceland, finishing off with the House of Collections. Our dinner was at Reykjavik Kitchen, which is a must if you can get a table! Day two was awesome. Plus, we checked out the awesome Bonus grocery store, so much fun.
Dinner was so good – I’m not sure what it is about quality restaurants, yet they can cook fish so much better than I can!
Day Three
The third full day was filled with a morning walk along the seawall, then we checked out the concert hall, the penis museum (wild, eh?!), had an awesome lunch, and then did a few photography and art museums and finished the day off with a delicious dinner at Brass Kitchen and Bar.
The next day we actually took off for our hike, however, after hiking for 4 full days, and a travel day, we made it back to Reykjavik for our last two full day!
Day Four
On our fourth full day we visited the harbour, got some coffee, people watched, and checked out Perlan the Wonders of Iceland. We capped off the day with an awesome dinner at an Italian restaurant.
Day Five
Then, on our fifth full day (we flew out late that evening) we went puffin watching! Then, had tacos, enjoyed a few shops. It was an awesome bookend day to our time in Reykjavik.
Wild, eh?!
Well, there you have it – our five days in Reykjavik. It’s an awesome place to visit. Pack up and travel!
See you again soon.
