Recipe: Independence Day Blue Velvet Iced Cookies
Independence Day blue velvet iced cookies. What a great way to show your red, white, and blue spirit. Bake up and get ready for the fireworks. It’s party time.
Ingredients
- 1 box of white cake mix
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup of canola oil
- 1 tablespoon of blue velvet flavouring or 1/2 teaspoon of blue food gel
- a tub of vanilla icing
- 2 tablespoons of red and blue m&ms
- 1 tablespoons of red and blue sprinkles
First, gather all of your ingredients.
Mix together the box of white cake mix with the eggs and the oil. Mix well. Then add in the gel or the flavouring. Combine until the dough is all the same colour.
Roll into a 1 inch ball and then shape them into a large silver dollar shape.
Bake at 350 degrees for 9-12 minutes.
Let the cookies cool for about 15. Then ice and top with sprinkles or m&ms.
Done!
Eat up and get ready to celebrate the wonderful land of the U.S.A.!!
These cookies are very similar to the ones we just made on Canada Day. Soft and chewy. So good. You could make them any colour for any holiday.

Instructions
- Set oven to 350 degrees.
- Mix the dry cake mix with the eggs and the oil - combine well.
- Add in the food gel or flavouring and mix until the dough is a uniform colour.
- Roll out into 1 inch balls and then shape into large silver dollar shapes.
- Bake for 9-12 minutes.
- Let the cookies cool for at least 15 minutes before you ice them.
- Top with sprinkles or m&ms.
- Eat.
