Recipe: Independence Day Treats
Independence Day treats! These red, white, and blue cookies are just for you. For your next BBQ, or even your long weekend road trip, these treats will help you celebrate in a fun and easy way. Plus, no need to turn on the oven! Okay – let’s get treat making.
Ingredients
- 12 cookies
- 1/2 cup of candy melts
- 1-2 tablespoons of red, white, and blue sprinkles
First, just as with the Canada Day Treats, lay out some parchment paper and mix the sprinkles in a bowl. You want move quickly once the chocolate is melted. I like using milk chocolate since I find the sprinkles pop better, yet you pick!
Melt the chocolate according to the directions and have your cookies ready to go. Once the chocolatey goodness is ready, delicately dip the cookie (using a spoon if you need to, to ensure coverage) and then dust with sprinkles. Lay the cookie on the parchment paper to set.
Keep repeating with all the cookies – and try not to snack on them as you dip!
They should only take about 15 minutes to set – but you can lay them out or put them in the fridge if you’ll be serving them outside.
When it comes to sprinkles, you can’t go wrong. They’re so good. Vanilla dip donuts used to be my favourite treat before becoming a celiac – that’s the donut that’s covered in rainbow sprinkles. So good.
Okay, once you’re done, it’s snack time!
Don’t these Independence Day treats look fun and festive? Last year when I made cake pops (gluten free ta-boot!) I used the same set of sprinkles. I love the bright colours.
Well, there you go – some quick and easy treats for this weekend. The Oreo’s are my favourite – especially dipped in a morning coffee. So good.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I wish you fun and awesome snacks this weekend. Bye!
