    Travel: Kenefick Park

Kenefick Park is home to the greatest locomotives to power the Union Pacific Railroad, and it’s right beside the Lauritzen Gardens and the Marjorie K Daugherty Conservatory. These trains are massive, let’s climb the stairs and check these beasts out. We almost didn’t visit the park, the stairs (there’s a lot of them) looked daunting after a long morning in the sun and I’ll admit, we were hungry. Knowing we probably wouldn’t be visiting Omaha again, we hustled up the stairs and were pleasantly surprised.…

    Travel: Musée du Louvre

The Musée du Louvre is a great place to spend the afternoon. Just don’t forget to prebook your time slot on their website after you get your advanced tickets. Otherwise, you’ll be out of luck if you want to visit. Musée du Louvre First, be sure you see the Mona Lisa – and plan for at least an hour start to finish on that experience. We did it first and then enjoyed the rest of our visit. It’s important if you’re on a tight timeline…

    Travel: Mona Lisa

Seeing the Mona Lisa is such a great experience. Visiting the Louvre is awesome, although I like the Musée d’Orsay better – I’m a painting person. First, expect to wait – and then wait – and then wait some more. All in all, we waited 45 minutes to see her (and only for 3 minutes, I might add). Seems silly, right? Well, if you like people, or like people watching rather, than this is a lot of fun. Seeing the Mona Lisa This is line…

    Travel: Gallery of Coaches

Gallery of Coaches – it’s an exhibit that’s just outside of the Palace of Versailles. It’s free to attend or perhaps no one checked us for tickets. Or, maybe it’s included in your palace tour ticket. Either way, it’s worth the stop to check out all of these beautiful carriages. Some for travel, others for ceremonies – like funerals or coronations. Gallery of Coaches It’s a little hard to find – see the little sign on the second post from the right – that’s the…

    Travel: Palace of Versailles

Palace of Versailles is about an hour outside of Paris by train. We train hopped twice and made it in about 48 minutes with a 12 minute walk through the city of Versailles. Arrive early, since as you can see from the photo above, the line is long to get through security. Took us about 45 minutes to get into the palace. Once in we used our phones with the Palace of Versailles app to listen to the in-depth tour of the royal residence. Palace…

    Travel: Musée d’Orsay

The Musée d’Orsay is worth the visit – to me, it’s better than any other museum in Paris and quite possibly my favourite museum of all time. It’s full of so much impressionist art and I could sit there and stare at it all day long. Not to mention the location of this place is beautiful. Right by the river with all the boats and traffic, so urban and cosmopolitan. Musée d’Orsay Our first stop at the Musée – the Upper Level 5. Full of…

    Travel: Victoria and Albert Museum

The Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Oh my goodness, this place is massive and so awesome! Jewelry, furniture, and dinnerware were my favourite exhibits – and photography. Silly me, I initially thought that the museum would be all about Victoria and Albert. We really like them and enjoy watching Victoria on PBS – such a great show. So, in looking back, I should have put it together – they loved of the arts, thus an epic museum to hold all items that are representative…
