Travel: Best Chicken in Mexico
The best chicken in Mexico. Such a bold statement, right? Well, it’s delicious. Unbelievably tender while being so full of char and flavour. There are a lot of factors that go into the experience of eating. How hungry are you, your mood, is it the first or third time you’re eating the food. Even right down to the weather. On this day I was very hungry. Plus, all I felt like was chicken. Huge craving for chicken. Bryce and I biked through Akumal and decided…

Travel: Cenote Ik Kil Mexico
It’s the Ik Kil Cenote in Mexico – the host of Red Bull diving a few years back. Not only is this place so much fun, it’s absolutely beautiful. Cenote Ik Kil After we visited Chichen Itza we stopped here – it was the perfect way to cool off and have some fun. This is what the cenote – meaning sink hole – looks like from above. We’re on the ground level and the water is a huge hole in the ground. It’s all natural…

Travel: Chichen Itza
Oh my goodness, this place – Chichen Itza – is awesome. One of the 7 wonders of the world, it’s most definitely worth the visit. Chichen Itza First, get a guide and opt for the shorter version. It was 35 degrees out with minimal shade, so the 2 hour tour was more than enough. All in all we spent about 2.5-3 hours at the site. Second, learn cool stuff. These steps are narrow forcing humans to walk up sideways so as to not face the…

Travel: Akumal, Mexico
We visited Akumal, Mexico in February for just over two weeks. Northern Alberta was freezing at the time, minus 37 on the coldest day the week before we left. So, we packed up – I packed in a carry on – and away we went. Did you see our little snapshot while we were there? If not, here are all the details! Akumal, Mexico is about 90 minutes south of Cancun and it’s a small little place. It has a handful of restaurants, a small…

Travel: Tulum, Mexico
Tulum, Mexico is about 35-45 minutes south of Akumal – and about 2 hours south of Cancun. It’s beautiful. Bryce and I took the Colectivo and saw the ruins, had lunch, and walked around this sweet little city. Tulum, Mexico First – make sure you bring sun screen, a hat, and something to drink. Also, note that the way you enter is not the way you exit. So, just keep that in mind if you’re in a larger group. Oh, and no facilities inside the…

Photos: Dogs of Instagram
Dogs of Instagram – who doesn’t love following sweet fur pups? Well, since this past Saturday was National Puppy Day, I thought I’d share a few of my favourites. Following these four paw friends is so fun – they brighten my day for sure. It’s been almost a year since we’ve been without a pup in the house, so this is my way to stay connected to the cuteness and all the fuzzy feels. It can be sad without a pup since I sometimes wonder…

Travel: Tulum Snapshot
About 3 weeks ago I saw an article and the headline read ‘Tulum is so 2018.’ It talked about new and exciting places to visit. Well, let me tell you, this quaint Mexican town is still a beautiful and exciting place to visit. Not too sure I’d spend a whole week here, but it’s worth the stop if you’re close. Check out this Tulum snapshot. Riding bikes, visiting the ruins, or eating authentic Mexican food is what Tulum is about. Oh, and smelling the warm…
