Travel: 3 Days in Siem Reap

Three Days in Siem Reap Three days in Siem Reap are some of the best on our whole 23 day trip to Southeast Asia. Seeing temples, swimming in the hotel pool, cooking lessons, and riding bikes. Oh, and eating some of the most delicious food! Like really delicious food. Three days in Siem Reap is enough time, yet don’t spend much less time here. In all honesty, I could have spent 5 days here riding my bike and eating fried rice with a fried egg…

    Taste of Edmonton 2016

Taste of Edmonton 2016 – some great food and a few repeats from last year – Taste of Edmonton 2015. Above, that’s me dressed as a Taste of Edmonton chef – so ridiculous. The event is on until July 30 – you should check it out before it’s over. Tickets are $1.58 per, and you can buy them in groups of 5 – 10 – 20 – 40. This year we got 40 tickets which is what we got last year. In all honesty, 40…

    Travel: Adamaz House Bangkok

Adamaz House Bangkok Adamaz House in Bangkok is a sweet little boutique hotel that’s down a dingy alley. I’ve said this before in my post about three days in Bangkok, yet I’ll say it again – so happy I book accommodations in advance. I trust reviews and I trust other bloggers. The process of finding a hotel before you travel is easy – know where you want to stay (usually close to sights and the common back-packer area), read reviews, pick your top three and…

    Travel: Wat Arun

Wat Arun Wat Arun in Bangkok – it’s the Temple of Dawn and only costs 50 Baht. The Wat Arun temple is open each day from 8:30am – 6:00pm and it’s directly across the river from the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. The Boat Take the boat for 3 Baht and you’ll get there in no time. You’ll pick it up at Than Pier and take the boat straight across to the Wat Arun Pier. There is only one boat the stops at the Wat…

    Travel: Wat Pho in Bangkok

Wat Pho Wat Pho is my favourite temple in Bangkok. It’s low key and beautiful. We did the Grand Palace in the morning and then Wat Pho right after. The walk between the two is about 12-17 minutes. No need for a tuk-tuk, just walk it and enjoy the sights. Once inside the temple we headed straight to the back for a 30 minute Thai massage. Well worth the money and a great way to relax in the air conditioning. Beautiful Buddhas and such extravagant…

    Travel: The Grand Palace Bangkok

The Grand Palace The Grand Palace, Bangkok is beautiful and a must see if you’re in Bangkok for even one day. It’s busy and open 365 days a year, so don’t let anyone trick you into telling you it’s closed. It’s open and waiting for you! First thing, you need to wear clothes that cover your knees and shoulders, so wear pants or a long skirt and a t-shirt, otherwise you’ll be forced to borrow a pair of pants or a robe. It’s hot enough…

Travel: Jim Thompson House in Bangkok

Jim Thompson House in Bangkok This is our first stop on day two of our three days in Bangkok. The best part about visiting the site is that you get a tour of the grounds. The tour is informative and about 30 minutes long. We had a wonderful guide – she answered so many of our questions and taught me things I’ll never forget, like how raised door frames prevent bad spirits from entering the room. History So, who is Jim Thompson? He’s an American…
