    Travel: Bangkok Snapshot

Bangkok snapshot – the second stop on our April 2016 vacation and our first stop in Southeast Asia. Bonus – Canadian’s don’t need a visa. So awesome. Above is our first experience with tuk-tuks – all the drivers are sleeping! We took a taxi (who tried to rip us off, actually – that story to come later) from the airport and then after checking in to our hotel, a boutique hotel, actually, we took the local’s boat down the river to Chinatown. Our hotel is…

    Travel: Hong Kong Snapshot

The first stop on our April 2016 vacation. Hong Kong is home to more than 7 million people and believe me, it feels like it. The city streets are busy and it’s full of red cabs much like New York City is full of yellow taxis. We did a lot in the two nights and three days we were there – we were on Lantau Island, the mainland, Kowloon, Tsim Sha Tsui, and made our way to Hong Kong Island and saw Central and Soho.…

Travel: Packing for Southeast Asia My 33L Backpack

Packing for Southeast Asia my 33L Backpack This is what I did Tuesday afternoon. Not only was it a blast, but it was a challenge well excepted to fit everything I wanted into my 33L backpack. Well, now we are on the road, or in the air, or sleeping maybe. Either way, I wanted to share what I’ve got on my back with you. There are so many blog posts out there about what to bring, what not to bring, how you can buy so…

    Travel: Off the Continent

Off the continent – that’s right, I’m heading to another continent tomorrow! Whoo hoo. See, I told you I had a bit of a busy week ahead. I’ve been trip planning. Like so much trip planning. And getting laundry washed while cleaning the house for our wonderful puppy and house sitter. Our house will be secure and well loved while we are gone, which is why I don’t mind sharing our little (okay, big) trip with you. Off the Continent Now, the trip planning is…

    Photos: Jasper Park Lodge

Jasper Park Lodge We had a fabulous time in late February at this Fairmont Resort. Our plan was to visit earlier in the week, February 22-25 or so for a few nights, yet with work demands we had to put the trip on hold. We struggled with the idea of going for one night on the weekend, February 27-28, yet we are so happy we made the trip, especially since we recently said goodbye to Bella. The drive up from Edmonton was beautiful – clear…

    Photos: Farmers’ Market

The famers’ market! The best place to spend your Saturday morning. Bryce and I hit up the Strathcona Farmers’ Market last weekend and got some pretty neat items. Some tomatoes and then a funky sculpture made out of scraps. Part of the fun is putting money back into the community by buying local. Another part is getting great tasting food. The colours of the food – so vibrant! It’s the fall, so you can the pumpkins and the variety of squash. They’re not just for…

    Photos: Michigan Hike

Michigan Hike It’s that time of year – time to hike. The fall colours are blooming and the weather is cool enough that you won’t over heat. It’s perfect. A few weeks ago we were travelling to Ontario for my brother’s wedding, which was so great, and we drove through the American way. We spent one night in North Dakota and the other night in Michigan. We woke up early after our second night and decided to go for a hike for a couple of…
