Travel: Brisbane Eats
Brisbane eats – some of our favourite places while we spent five days in the capital of Queensland. Okay, let’s check out some eats.
First, if you haven’t head of Woolworths, then you’re missing out. It’s one of the best grocery stores I’ve been to, and I’ve lived near a Whole Foods! Woolworths is full of so much produce, some speciality items (hello gluten free), and a nice bakery. I’ll of course share our top restaurants, too.
Brisbane Eats
First up, Woolworth. If you caught my last post, you’d know we stayed at the Meriton Suites, which has a kitchen. One of the benefits of having an kitchen is that you can still eat some of your favourite meals while travelling for a handful of weeks. The gluten free section of treats is just the best!
Have you ever seen a free from gluten section so big at a standard, non-speciality grocery store?! I haven’t, it’s awesome.
Jumbo Thai was a big hit. Bold flavour and refreshing drinks. Plus, don’t you just love it when food is packed with vegetables? These green snap peas were so fresh, crunch, and the red chilies added some nice heat. The perfect dinner after a long day.
For our last night in Brisbane, and a little celebratory dinner (I graduated with my Master’s Degree earlier that week), we had an awesome meal at Malt. From vegetable forward dishes, to rich potatoes, these dishes support local producers, which is a huge win-win.
These dishes were even better than described on the menu. The story behind Malt is a group of friends who had a vision, one to work with local supplies and support sustainability. I love it.
The potatoes above were some of the best I’ve ever had. One thing I didn’t get a photo of was the dining room, it’s stunning and pays tribute to the historical building and the character.
Well, there you have it – Brisbane eats. Some of our favourites if you happen to be in Queensland.
