Travel: Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo
The Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo – it’s a must do if you’re in Dubai. Don’t be fooled if you’re in the mall, there is way more to this aquarium than meets the eye. After touring the Burj Khalifa, we headed over to the aquarium and spent about 90 minutes checking out all the creatures.
We bought package tickets, so if you plan on seeing both sights, I suggest you do the same. Saved us a total of $55 Canadian. The At The Top tickets are $179 AED, and the Aquarium tickets are $199 AED, yet you can get both for as a package for $309 AED, which is about $120 Canadian at the time we visited – all per person. So, worth it!
Okay, let’s check out some photos and I’ll share a few tips.
Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo
First, we recommend visiting on a weekday and before 11am. The weekends are very busy, and the school tours start around 10:00am, and they get very busy by 11am. We crossed paths with only one group and it was fun to watch them interact with all the animals, until one of the teachers brought out a loud speaker – no thank you! Okay, photos.
The underwater tunnel is cool – yet don’t be fooled, there is so much more to explore upstairs.
Check out the various colours of the rays in the second photo below. The one on the right is so pretty – the pattern is elegant and I can see that it might look like a rock to other fish.
Up next, a behind the scenes tour – we got to see the penguins, a feeding for the large tank, and watched some food prep happening by the animal caretakers.
Okay, back to more sea creatures. Check out the neck on this guy.
Now, for a few land animals.
The colours, eh?!
Look how big these two are – wild.
Up next, this little guy is my favourite – I’ve seen them before, yet nowhere near this big.
All in all, we had an awesome time at the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo.
Happy travelling and I’ll see you again soon!
