    Photos: Festival of Trees

The Festival of Trees in Edmonton is a huge University Hospital event. They raise more than one million dollars each year and the trees are beautiful. This year they raised enough money to drastically help the Rapid Transfer Unit at the University of Alberta Hospital. Basically, the Festival of Trees is a total bonus for making a small donation to a worthy cause. Okay – let’s check out some of the trees! Festival of Trees This one below is my favourite. Such a plaid little…

    Project: DIY Headboard

It’s project time – DIY headboard time, to be exact. You can see from the photo below that I’m a little behind in sharing this project since it’s not all green outside. Nope, we have snow no grass right now. This project started this past summer. We knew we wanted a headboard in our second guest room, yet we didn’t really like the idea of paying $800 for one. In browsing a few sites I came across an article from Apartment Therapy – Best Upholstered…

    Travel: Art Gallery of Algoma

Time for a little look into the Art Gallery of Algoma – the art gallery in my hometown. We recently visited Sault Ste. Marie to hang out with family for a week and my mom took us to the beautiful Roberta Bondar photo exhibit. I remember being in elementary school and about 4 grades of students loaded up on to two busses. The bus drivers had such a hard time trying to find a spot to park. We were there to line the streets with…

The sweetness of the squash balances out so well with the saltiness of the feta cheese and who doesn’t love avocado! This recipe is similar to my butternut squash salad – check that recipe out, too. Okay, let’s get cooking. Ingredients acorn squash 2 tablespoons of grape seed oil avocado white onion 1/2 cup of mixed nuts 1/3 cup of dried cranberries 2/3 cup of…

    Photos: Blue Jays

My oh my – we have 5 blue jays at our house! Blue Jays This past July we celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary and Bryce’s parents got us a bird feeder, not only is it beautiful, it’s made of cedar. Well, we finally got it up in late August when we purchased some standard bird feed. It was a mix of black, white and brown seeds. The little finches we see around love the black seeds, yet toss the white ones to the ground. Recently,…
