Photos: Detroit
Detroit
A few weeks ago I was in Detroit and I took some shots in the heart of the motor city.
These photos make me happy and make me sad, all at once. I love Detroit and as a kid I used to dream of living in the big city – and Detroit was the closest big city. Baseball games, huge highways, towering buildings, and fancy airports. It was like the hub of awesomeness.
I remember, as a kid, going to Tiger’s Stadium (that was before big corporate companies decked out stadiums with sponsorship/advertising) – we’d park in this open lot and walk by half a dozen mechanic shops, one bank and about 3 bars. Everyone was yelling and yelling “Eat ’em up, Tigers, eat ’em up!” The energy was contagious and I loved those hard blue seats. I’m only sad I didn’t get to take pictures of it before it was torn down. The images will forever be in my memory.
“Eat ’em up, Tigers.”
