Taste of Edmonton
One of the best food festivals in the county, right here in my town. Amazing.
It’s so cool that even Steven Tyler showed up this year. I know! Who wouldn’t want to go. If you love food and love summer, this event is for you!
Tip One
Buy your tickets ahead of time. You save 20%! That’s just about a buck a ticket. Plus, the ticket line is huge, and you get to skip it.
Tip Two
Check out their website for the menu and for a map.
So, how it works if you never been before – you buy tickets (usually in sheets of 40 for the best price) and then local restaurants feature 2 items between 2-5 tickets and you eat what you like, paying in tickets. It’s fun and easy. No tipping, no pre-ordering, just walk around and decide what to eat while enjoying the festivities.
With 40 tickets – this is what we ate! The food was amazing.
I was surprised by this Channa Masala and Safron Rice dish – it was my second favourite and the first thing we ate. Try it!
The brownie was sweet, yet good. And, gluten free!
The best place to eat – and the whole reason we went on Sunday, July 19. The food trucks aren’t there for the whole time, usually only about 3 or 4 days, so you need to scope out the menu and be sure you visit when your truck of choice is there.
Casa12Doce is the best. The potato and feta filled quesadilla is amazing. You need to eat it now. Seriously. We ended up getting 3!
Some more eats.
More chocolate.
This taco is a far second to Casa12Doce’s taco.
Mac ‘n cheese ball. Ah, yes, please.
We went back one last time to our favourite vendor. You need to end on a good note. This quesadilla is the perfect ending.
All in all, you should visit this fabulous food festival and if you’re an out of town guest thinking of visiting Alberta’s capital, then visit while this festival is going on…it’s 10 days and spans two weekends. Our Sunday adventure took about 2 hours, so a great way to spend a sunny summer Sunday!
