Simplicity 1429 pattern review part two. Last week I did a review of this pattern, the pants version. This time, the shorter wavy skirt. Time to sew up and get ready for summer.

Pattern Review

First thing, be sure you cut your pattern correctly. I was so absent minded when I was cutting and cut the two front pieces the same way. Luckily, the fabric is quite similar on both sides, so you can’t tell that one side is the wrong side and the other side is the right side of the fabric. Obviously, I didn’t have any extra of this neon fabric. Bummer.

Oh, also, I might not do a big stripe again…makes it a bit tricky for looking polished. Perhaps a nice floral or even a solid would work well. This fabric, does, however, look really good with the jean jacket.

Follow the steps on the pattern carefully – and make the waistband a bit smaller than they suggest. On the pattern, they leave a bit of extra room for the elastic, which I find makes it look sloppy, when the project is finished.

Finish the hem and you’re all set. For me and my style it’s a bit of an awkward length, but I’m trying to go outside of my comfort zone. It’s light and airy, just like the pants I mentioned above.

Sew up and head out in your new summer skirt.

If you try this pattern, I’d love to see the finished product. Do you think this length is a bit odd, or do you love it? I love hearing about people’s opinions. We all think so differently which is why our world is so complex. Share, please, I’d love to hear from you!

Happy Tuesday and I hope you’re having a great week. Visit again soon and be happy!
