Travel: Taxi Scam Ho Chi Minh City
Yes, we got scammed while in Ho Chi Minh City. It’s not something I’m overly happy about since I did a lot of research on scams (I read a few articles, so not really a lot); but more than that, I just feel stupid. So, in an effort to help anyone else who’s travelling to Vietnam or to share a story to help you, who may have been scammed, see that you’re not stupid. People who scam are lame and low-lifes. I try to think…

Travel: Birthday in Ho Chi Minh City
Birthday in Ho Chi Minh City – where I turned one marvellous year older. Since I planned the hotels before hand, I knew where we’d be for my birthday in late April – Vietnam! This restaurant, Noir, has excellent reviews and a top chef. The trick? You eat in the dark! 100% blackness. The lady next to us had to remove her watch because the little hands glowed. You wouldn’t believe what your senses are like when you’re eating in the dark – you should…

Travel: Museum of Fine Arts Ho Chi Minh City
On our visit to Ho Chi Minh City we visited the Museum of Fine Arts – such a joy. Museum of Fine Arts The museum is open everyday, except Mondays, from 9am – 5pm. Also, no breaks for lunch, which makes it the perfect place to visit for a couple of hours between your other sites. Beautiful art with historical influence. This piece I love – it’s so fun and full of movement. Sculpting is so amazing. This bust is one of the most beautiful…

Travel: War Remnants Museum Ho Chi Minh City
The War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City is a must visit if you’re in Vietnams capital. We spent about 2 hours here reading and observing. We didn’t do a lot of talking until after. Also, the pictures below aren’t the best quality. It’s challenging to walk around this museum, filled with so much anguish and focus on taking pictures. Not to mention that I’m a born Canadian who also holds a United States passport – I could feel the stares. War Remnants Museum…

Travel: Reunification Palace Ho Chi Minh City
Reunification Palace is such a beautiful building. It’s old, yes, but also very historical to the Vietnam War. I visited on my birthday, April 29, the day before Reunification Day. The sky was bright blue and the lines were long, yet we had a great time! Reunification Palace When we first stopped by to visit on April 28 the building was in use for official government business. The library is my favourite place. Look at that desk – so big. Just think of all the…

Travel: Ben Thanh Market Ho Chi Minh City
Ben Thanh Market This is the busiest market in the capital of Vietnam! Also, it’s centrally located in district 1 of Ho Chi Minh City, which is where we were staying at the Hello House. Okay, let’s get shopping at the Ben Thanh Market! So many items, from knockoff designer bags to items that are actually made in Southeast Asian factories and sold at deep discounts in these markets. I don’t know if workers steal the items or if they are flawed in some way…

Travel: 3 Days in Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam is a place full of history, heartache, and honour. I visited in late April, early May of 2016 and it was such an experience. From taxi scams to celebrating my 34th birthday, it was a destination to remember! Check out how we spent our three days. Getting to Vietnam First – we got to Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam by bus – the Giant Ibis from Phnom Penh Cambodia. The most intense part of the trip was crossing customs into…
