Travel: A Morning in Amsterdam
A morning in Amsterdam, Netherlands (or Holland, if you will!) is an stunning place for a morning stretch. We were travelling home from 14 Days in the Middle East and had an 8 hour layover in Amsterdam. So, after we landed shortly after 6am we went out for a stroll since our flight out was around 2pm. After a speedy de-boarding, we exited the airport, passed through border control, and caught the train!
A Morning in Amsterdam
First up, be sure you have enough time – I’d say you need at least 5 hours if you wanted to leave the airport for a quick coffee and a walk.
We caught the train and enjoyed a morning walk among the commuters – so many bikes! Amsterdam – Zuid is the train station where we got off and then walked for about 30 minutes.
We had an awesome breakfast at Bakers and Roasters – they have a handful of gluten free options, which is perfection! Plus, they have incredible coffee.
After breakfast we took a long walk back to the train station, being sure to check out the exterior of the Rijksmuseum – looks like such a cool place!
Well, there you have it – a morning in Amsterdam! The train is relatively easy to buy tickets for – Bryce was an all-star at picking our tickets. I was a little tired and confused with how it all worked. Usually I do a lot of prep beforehand, which is helpful. Yet not on this little outing since we weren’t sure we’d be up for the adventure!
Have you ever left the airport on a long layover?! I’m curious where you’ve been in such situations. Some airports, like the one in Hong Kong, or Singapore (haven’t been to this one!) have amazing airports that there really isn’t a reason to leave, haha!
Thanks for stopping by – happy travelling!
