Travel: National Museum of Qatar
The National Museum of Qatar is one of the most recognizable buildings in Doha as it backs onto one of the main roads directly leading to the airport. The building looks complex from the outside, however, inside it’s flows well and has a cool atmosphere to it. The structure lets the items in the gallery shine, it’s not distracting, but complimenting.
Okay, let’s check out some photos. We’ve got everything from maps to clothes as well as machinery and greenery. Photo time!
National Museum of Qatar
First up, the building.
The structure looks so light and balanced – like a house of cards or something.
Once you enter it’s easy to get lost unless you follow the signs. We followed our map in order and only got turned around once when checking out an exhibit that was outside.
Check out this mask!
For the first floor we saw rocks, fossils, and native plants.
Next we saw western versus eastern comparisons, and machinery.
We also saw a lot of fabric and clothing, which I found super interesting. There were two exhibits, one permanent and the other, more modern display, was a special exhibit that was off to the side and easy to miss as you exit.
The National Museum of Qatar has a bit of everything, such as culture, activities to engage (we played a diving game), as well as historical exhibits to inform and teach. It’s an awesome place to spend an afternoon. For us, the whole museum took about 2 hours.
The last exhibit is one I could have spent 30 minutes interacting with. The large screen below is full of stories of citizen of Qatar with lessons and impactful teachings, I wish I could have read them all!
Well, there you have it – a sneak peak into the National Museum of Qatar.
Thanks for visiting and happy travelling!
