Travel: Qur’anic Botanic Garden
The Qur’anic Botanic Garden is in the heart of Education City, and it’s stunning. It has a water garden, a dry area, and a tunnel with vines. The variety is impressive, from fig trees to staples like parsley and rosemary, this place is full of plants. We visited first thing in the morning, when the sun wasn’t too, too hot. Let’s check out some photos.
Qur’anic Botanic Garden
First up, it’s a little hard to find the starting point, however, the Education City tram maps and directional signage will help you out, as long as you’re on campus.
We took a Uber and got dropped off at the Qatar National Library (more on that in a post soon!) and it was about a 5 minute walk from the library.
Up first, the figs!
Cool, eh?! The figs are even edible – so cool.
Up next we checked out the sound garden and the water garden.
After about 25 minutes I needed a washroom – so we ventured to one of the larger buildings, the one that looks like a spaceship, on the hunt for facilities. We ended up finding what we needed and saw some amazing architecture on the far side of the garden, complete with more stunning plants.
If you get the chance, the inside of this building is amazing. It’s the home of the Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies and is home to the campus mosque. The building explores the relationship of knowledge and light, which is highlighted throughout the building.
Ta-da! That’s the garden, and a few campus buildings. Isn’t the Qur’anic Botanic Garden an awesome place?! It’s perfect for a morning stroll and it’s a peaceful place to be – be sure to check it out if you’re ever in Doha, Qatar.
Thanks for stopping by and happy travelling!
