Travel: Reykjavik Dinner Eats

Reykjavik Dinner Eats

Reykjavik dinner eats! I was surprised how much produce this Northern European county had – Iceland has amazing food. Really. It’s expensive compared to Canada for dinner, yet it’s worth it. We had local eats, pizza, and even Thai food while we travelled around the capital city. Let’s check out where we ate!

If you’re looking for good eats when you travel, like we do, then you probably know of a few sites to check out. Of course there’s the Michelin Guide, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, yet I also search Google. My favourite way to search is by using the map, since the reviews are easily searchable for key words, like gluten free! That’s how we found Chickpea for our Reykjavik Lunch Eats. So, once you search, then you eat!

Up first we have Sümac where we sat at the chef’s counter and enjoyed a variety of small plates and tapas. We got olives to start, as well as the fried halloumi and crispy falafel. Also, we got the chicken kebab and the roasted cauliflower. All so good! Check it out.

Up next we visited Reykjavik Kitchen – oddly, this was already on our list but about 3 people suggested it to us while we were out and about the days before. It’s awesome when things like that come togehter!

I had fish and Bryce had lamb. My arctic char with caramelized pineapple was so good, fresh, hearty, and full of flavour! The parsnips chips on top of the potato gratin was a play on texture for sure, plus, the truffle better and lamb ribeye!

Before we headed out on our hike we had a hearty meal the night before, burgers and fish and chips. Brass Kitchen didn’t disappoint.

When we got back to Reykjavik after our hike we stopped at Thai Kitchen even before getting back to our hotel. It reminded me of our time after the west coast trail. When we got to Bamfield in British Columbia on that WCT trip, we headed straight for the restaurant in our hiking clothes and all. We wanted food. Other hikers we were with went back to the hotel to shower and get cleaned up first. It’s all about priorities! For us, it’s usually good eats! So, Thai food it was after our 4 day, 4 night hike.

On our last night we had pizza! This place was good – they had a spicy chili oil that was delicious on the pizza. Plus, they had gluten free crust which is so fantastic for me.
