Travel: Reykjavik Lunch Eats
Reykjavik lunch eats! We had some awesome food while we were in Iceland, from fresh felafel salads to tacos, we ate well. Of course, it’s probably not a surprise that food in Iceland is expensive – I think our least expensive lunch was around 58$ Canadian. Having said that, there are less expensive options (and more expensive!), and many hit up the Bonus for breakfast and lunch. Okay, let’s venture onward and check out these restaurants.

Snack Lunches
First up, we had some sweet eats and gluten free, too! Sweet Aurora is a little cafe a bit off the main roads to downtown. It’s not out of the way and it’s pet friendly. We sat outside and enjoyed our treats.
The carrot cake above was about 75% icing and 25% cake, yet it was good. Light, fluffy, and scrumptious. Finding good gluten free sweets is difficult and it’s a bonus when we find one – Sweet Aurora is a hit.
If you’re in the mood for something fast, then check out 10-11. It’s like a Family Mart, 7-11, or any other convenience store you might be familiar with. They have fresh items, snacks, and a lot of treats. I picked up this bowl and it hit the spot.
Main Lunches
My favourite lunch place in Reykjavik is Chickpea. It was so good we tried to go twice, yet it’s not open on Monday’s, so we missed out on our second visit. They’ve got about 10 seats inside, and if you’re like us and stay in to eat, you’ll see a handful of pick-ups. This place is busy! The freshness is unbeatable.
My falafel salad was so good, the picked onions and roasted chickpeas were delicious.
On a chilly day we stopped at Mama Restaurant for a fresh lunch, too. Bryce got a spicy chili and I had a Mexican inspired salad. This place was fun, full of games, books, and of course, good food!
We hung out at Mama’s for a bit before heading to the Perlan Wonders of Iceland – more on that next time!
Last but not least, we had Mexican tacos and burritos on our last day in Iceland. We found this place right off Laugavegur Street and it’s worth checking out. They’re on the second floor and we got a table that overlooked the street – perfect for people watching.
Well, there you have it, our Reykjavik lunch eats!
We hope you have an awesome Wednesday and enjoyed lunch today, haha. Happy travelling.
See you again soon.
