Travel: Seventeen Seventy Sunset
Seventeen Seventy Sunset – one of the best spots to watch the sunset in Australia! Plus, as we visited the east side, 1770 as it’s often called, has a great marina to catch the sunset falling over the bay. Okay, let’s check out some photos!
Seventeen Seventy Sunset
We spent two nights in 1770 and caught the sunset twice. Once from the beach of the marina and the second night from the bluff at the end of Sir Raphael Cilento Drive, up by Wave Lookout. If you only have one option, go for the bluff, but arrive early!
We arrived both nights about 30 minutes before the scheduled sunset time. It happens fast, so be ready! On the bluff, some people had been waiting for 4 hours. We ended up sitting right next to them, so bonus for us since we saved a bunch of waiting time! Bring chairs, bring snacks, and bring your camera – you’ll want to catch the big star setting over the bay.
Oh, I should also mention that the bluff site isn’t as calm as the beach. So if you’re looking for peace and quiet, then pick the beach. Up on the bluff a lot of people were drinking and a few dogs were off leash, which isn’t a big deal if they’re well behaved. One dog, however, was a bit bossy, so pick a place that suits you and your pup if they’re with you.
Well, there you have it, the Seventeen Seventy sunset – twice! The second night was the best, but that’s because the boats aren’t in the way. Both sunsets were beautiful and it’s nice to sit back, relax and enjoy the calmness.
Thanks for stopping by! I’m so looking forward to winter solstice in a few days – then we’ll start to see the sun for even longer. Stay warm and enjoy the day!
