Travel: Tennoji Zoo
The Tennoji Zoo is in Osaka, Japan. It’s a nice way to spend a couple of hours exploring the animals and enjoying the sun. The zoo isn’t big and I didn’t see any giraffes – well, I did see some equipment with giraffe spots, yet that doesn’t count. The lions were chill and the turtles were hungry. Okay, let’s check out some photos.
Tennoji Zoo
First up, the entrance. The Tennoji Zoo is pretty basic, and with no lines on an early Monday morning, just a quick payment – less than $5.00 Canadian – it’s worth it. Grab a map and be sure to get some steps in! It was a warm day so we had sunscreen and water handy. Oh, and snacks. We knew there was a Family Mart close by, so we were in good hands.
When you have your map, be sure you get to see all the animals you’re looking forward to. Right after the entrance they had a petting zoo. Farm animals, which we’re quite used to since we live in the country in northern Alberta. These guys were quite happy, just roaming around looking for pets.
Up next we had the world of birds – the aviary was massive. Large cranes, peacocks, and owls. It was quite neat. Check out these winged friends!
We also saw some turtles munching on some kale chips. I’m not sure they were chips, but you get the idea.
On our way to see the big animals, the lions and rhinos, we saw this ‘giraffe’. Too funny. Not what I was expecting, but cute nonetheless.
The lions were chilling in the mid-morning sun. Not too adventurous – however, it was nice to see them.
And last, yet the biggest animal we saw, the rhinos! Look how big this guy is – he’s like a truck.
Well, there you have it, our trip to the Tennoji Zoo in Osaka, Japan. It’s worth the low cost to enjoy the nice weather and see some animals. No need to block off a lot of time – we were here for about 90 minutes. A nice way to spend the morning.
Thanks for stopping by and happy travelling – see you again soon.
