Travel: Tokyo Tower
Tokyo Tower! It even has its own emoji. It’s easily identifiable with its bright red colour and worth checking out if you’re in the area. We walked 20 minutes from our hotel on our last morning in Tokyo. Let’s check out some photos.
Oh, if you’re not going to travel up the tower, you’ll be good spending about 15-20 minutes walking around the base. We visited pretty early in the morning, around 8:30am and it was quiet, probably because the tower opens at 9am. If you do check out the tower’s viewing decks, then plan for 90 minutes at least, up to two hours. Okay, now photo time!
Tokyo Tower
Did you know that the tower is a communication tower – both television and radio, neat, eh. Also, the tower is painted every 5 years. Talk about maintenance. There are two observations decks, yet we just walked the grounds. Okay, photo time.
Our first view on the way to the tower. We of courses saw the communication station when we visited the Shibuya Sky on our first night in Tokyo.
The neighbourhood is full of unique shops, wonderful restaurants, and a few parks. If you’ve got the time, be sure to walk around and explore the neighbourhood.
One quick left turn and there it is in full view!
Here are a few more photos.
Neat, eh?
It’s inspired by the Eiffel Tower and it’s 3 meters taller at the tallest point. If you asked me, I would have though the Eiffel Tower was taller. Both are an iron lattice pattern, yet the tower in Paris is far busier and draws more tourists. Both are worth checking out.
What are your favourite iconic city sights? Brooklyn Bridge? Sydney Opera House? Berlin’s Fernsehturm? I’d love to see all of those, wouldn’t you?! Happy travelling.
