Whitegoat Falls

Whitegoat Falls is a moderate out and back hike in Nordegg, Alberta with a spectacular view of the falls. We headed up in early may and caught some snow! The trail was a bit wet and soft, and the path down the rock face was a little slick, yet nothing we, or Daph, couldn’t handle. Check out our photos of this hike in the Canadian Rockies.

First up, if you’re looking for the trail head, it’s at the waste transfer station. The trail map is easily downloadable from Alltrails – it’s about a 3.1 kilometer trail and takes a little over an hour. We spent a lot of time hanging out by the falls, so know you could probably do this hike in an hour if you don’t’ stop much at all.

The trial starts directly behind the transfer station – you’ll see the sign below once you hit the trailhead. From there, it’s a straight shot up the mountain (not a lot of elevation) until you turn off to the left. Keep an eye out for deer, we saw a handful.

Daphne is great on her leash and doesn’t mind the snow at all. Once we turned off to the left, it’s easy to find the falls. Not only does the water sound pull you in, but the trail is also marked with orange tags.

Okay, time to navigate down the rock face. Luckily there’s a rope for stability.

The falls are so neat, and they look awesome with the snow, don’t they?!

After we enjoyed our time hanging out by the falls, we crossed the river and made our way to down stream, then crossed back and up a different rock face. Keep an eye out for those orange tags and you’ll be good.
