    Travel: Wat Pho in Bangkok

Wat Pho Wat Pho is my favourite temple in Bangkok. It’s low key and beautiful. We did the Grand Palace in the morning and then Wat Pho right after. The walk between the two is about 12-17 minutes. No need for a tuk-tuk, just walk it and enjoy the sights. Once inside the temple we headed straight to the back for a 30 minute Thai massage. Well worth the money and a great way to relax in the air conditioning. Beautiful Buddhas and such extravagant…

    Travel: The Grand Palace Bangkok

The Grand Palace The Grand Palace, Bangkok is beautiful and a must see if you’re in Bangkok for even one day. It’s busy and open 365 days a year, so don’t let anyone trick you into telling you it’s closed. It’s open and waiting for you! First thing, you need to wear clothes that cover your knees and shoulders, so wear pants or a long skirt and a t-shirt, otherwise you’ll be forced to borrow a pair of pants or a robe. It’s hot enough…

Sewing: Week Twenty Seven Outdoor Table Runner

Outdoor table runner made with the bright and colourful fabric. Not only is the fabric fade resistant in the sun, but it also looks like mountains! Look at those peaks. When I saw the fabric in the store I was immediately drawn to it. The fabric looks inviting and energizing. Yet, when I got home and started working with the fabric it was so much better than I remembered. Just perfection when that happens. What You Need 2 pieces of outdoor fabric that measure 14…

    Recipe: Swiss Chard Hummus Wraps

Swiss chard hummus wraps are so delicious and healthy, not to mention, gluten free. Oh, and the best part is that they keep for a few days in the fridge because there really isn’t anything to wilt or get mushy. Overall, they are tasty! Okay, let’s get started. Ingredients 6 swiss chard leaves 1/2 a cucumber 1 carrot about 1 cup of roughly chopped red cabbage 1 container of spicy hummus First, gather all of your ingredients. Next, wash the swiss chard and be sure…

Travel: Jim Thompson House in Bangkok

Jim Thompson House in Bangkok This is our first stop on day two of our three days in Bangkok. The best part about visiting the site is that you get a tour of the grounds. The tour is informative and about 30 minutes long. We had a wonderful guide – she answered so many of our questions and taught me things I’ll never forget, like how raised door frames prevent bad spirits from entering the room. History So, who is Jim Thompson? He’s an American…

    Travel: 3 Days in Bangkok

Three days in Bangkok Our three days in Bangkok were so much fun, so hot, and so many memories. This was our second stop on our Southeast Asia trip this spring. After we spent two days and two nights in Hong Kong we flew AirAsia from HKG to DMK. We got in around noon and headed straight to our hotel. Note to anyone arriving at Don Muang Airport, be sure you negotiate your taxi fare. I knew to do this from reading other travel blogs…

Sewing: Week Twenty Six Outdoor Pillows

Outdoor pillows, yes, that’s right, it’s time to get a bit of our summer grove on and get the deck or patio ready for the heat. I love outdoor fabric and as a result I’ll be sharing a few projects with you over the next few weeks. The best part about outdoor fabric is that it’s fade resistant up to at least 500 hours. Now, here in Alberta where the sun shines from about 5am until 11pm that’s not many days, so I don’t leave…
