Photos: Daphne Turns Seven
Daphne turns seven! What?! I know – she’s so grown up, it’s wild. It feels like yesterday that we were teaching her all about snow, or laughing at how she loved to play in the pool (you know, one of those little kiddie pools). Well, this girl is growing up and still teaching us about who she is – I’ll share more below! Okay, first, a bunch of photos.
Daphne Turns Seven
First up, this pup loves daycare. Like absolutely, without a doubt, wags her tail and stretches extra when I pull out her slip lead. She knows. It’s instinctive. Slip lead?! Daycare!
From drop-off to pick-up, this pup has the time of her life at daycare. When we first had the idea of Daphne, we toured a few daycare places, since we knew we’d be working full time and also are avid travellers. When we found the place we use, we were overjoyed. They love her, and she loves them. The best part?! They send us photos (aka, report cards) on the daily! Her longest stay was 4 weeks back in 2022 when we went to Queensland, Australia. And, let me tell you, we missed her a whole lot, yet those report cards made our days. Okay, here she is over the past year, making friends, finding her own space, and enjoying posing for the camera.
Looks like fun, eh?! It’s the best.
Now, a few years ago, I also shared what’s new, and I’ll bring back that tradition this year!
What’s New
So, what has this sweet pup been up to in her last year? Well, first off, she started doing formation laps. She might have done them before; however, we didn’t ever really catch on. We’ve been F1 fans for about 8 years now, and if you’ve seen our kitchen reno, you know you can walk all the way around the stove and the eat-at counter. Daphne does this thing, and it’s usually in the winter when we take a bit longer to get our gear and layers on. She’ll be so excited to walk that she does a lap around the kitchen. It’s so funny. She trots along like she’s just ready to get going.
What else?! She has these new favourite treats – special thanks to her Santa this past holiday. They’re in a bag and are kept in the fridge. There are about 7 things that we open in the house that sound like these treats being opened (one of them is dental floss sticks!), however, no matter the item, if she hears the sound, she comes running. It’s wild. As a pup who didn’t get treats for the first handful of her years, she’s certainly learned to love them!
Lastly, she gives herself a nap time. You’ll see her crate below – custom after we renovated our second floor – and she loves it. She’ll put herself in there on an afternoon so she can take a nap. The pup has about 12 spots around the house that she’s claimed as her spot, however, this one seems to be her safe space. Okay, let’s check out more photos!
Well, there you have it, Daphne turns seven!
She’s a keeper, that’s for sure. Hope you have a great July 15th – this pup will be celebrating all day!!
