Recipe: Donut Glazed Popcorn
Donut glazed popcorn – it’s the perfect snack for those who love a sweet and salty combo. Plus, it honestly tastes delicious. Okay – first, let’s make some popcorn. You can certainly use any type, but I make mine on the stove the old fashioned way. Let’s get popping!
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons of canola oil
- 3/4 cup of popcorn
- 2 tablespoons of salted butter
- 1/2 cup of powered sugar
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla
First, pop up your popcorn. While that’s popping, melt the butter and whisk in the powered sugar and vanilla. Do keep an eye on the popcorn, though. Make sure you shake the pan back and forth until it starts popping, and don’t let it burn.
Oh, and try not to eat all the glaze before the popcorn is done – do taste it, though, just to ensure you have enough vanilla (can you actually have too much?!).
Then, once the popcorn is done, get out a big bowl and drizzle the coating on, ensuring you toss and stir it often – that way you maximize the coverage.
Then, serve up in dishes. I like to dish it out since it’s quite addicting and I’ll end up eating it all. Nothing wrong with that, though. This sweet and salty treat is the perfect mid-week snack. Oh, and it keeps really well, too. So, make up a double batch and pack some for snacks.
Doesn’t it look good? Not every piece will be coated, yet enough of them will to give you that sweetness you’ll be hunting for bite after bite. Or, you could add more glaze if you like, but I like these ratios the best.
Well, there you have it – donut glazed popcorn! Get out the controller and queue up your favourite show (Ted Lasso, anyone?) and enjoy a good old fashioned snack. Eat up and enjoy.
See you again soon!
