Canadian Thanksgiving 2021 is here – with some delicious recipes and some bold flavours. This year we have a little Mexican inspired meal – with Mexican caramel chocolate cake and a roasted corn and avocado salad. Don’t worry, I still made fluffy mashed potatoes and turkey. Okay – let’s get cooking!

If you’re in the mood for butter, then give Robuchon mashed potatoes a try – so rich, yet so good. The best thing about this year’s thanksgiving dinner is the brownie-like cake. You can make it ahead of time and it’s fully of so much chocolatey richness. Plus, the avocado and corn salad works well in tacos, too – so make extra. Turkey tacos, anyone?

I usually buy the smallest turkey I can find – around 4-5 kilograms otherwise we end up throwing a lot of turkey away. Good back-up if you can’t find a small turkey, you can make turkey legs, or get a small turkey roast. Or, as I plan on doing for the American Thanksgiving in November, you can use chicken. Quartered chicken is quick, easy and far less cooking time. Don’t get me wrong, turkey is so good, yet just not day after day after day.

Well – there you have it, one little Canadian Thanksgiving 2021 dinner – the perfect meal for showing your family how much you’re thankful for them. Thanksgiving, as I’m sure you’ve heard me share before, is one of my favourites. From a holiday without presents (hello no-stress!) to a holiday about being thankful, and full of warm-heart-loving food. Yes, please.

Plus, I love my Nana’s gravy dish – it’s just so classic, little chip and all! Thanks so much for stopping by – I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving! See you again soon.
