Recipe: Jalapeño Popper Waffle Iron Grilled Cheese
Jalapeño popper waffle iron grilled cheese – such a great Saturday lunch idea. Yes, please. A bit of spice with some cooling cream cheese, sounds too good to pass up. Let us get to the recipe.
Ingredients
- 4 slices of bread
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- half a pack of cream cheese
- 4 green onions
- 100g of marble cheese
- 3 jalapeños
First – gather all of your ingredients.
Next, turn your gas stove on to high and roast the jalapeño peppers. If you don’t have a gas stove, use your bbq.
Roast until well charred on both sides.
Put them in a paper bag and let them steam for about 10 minutes.
The Filling
Time to make the popper like filling.
Use soft cream cheese, or place in the microwave on defrost for about 20-40 seconds. Chop the green onions and mix them into the cream cheese.
Time to scrape the skin off peppers. Cut them open and deseed as well.
I use parchment paper to lay the buttered bread down on, just so it doesn’t make a mess on my counter. Once the bread is buttered and on the parchment paper, spread on the cream cheese mix on the other side (the inside) of the bread.
Slice the each pepper in half – each sandwich will get 3 halves and 6 slices of cheese.
Close the sandwich and place in the waffle iron. Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the cheese starts to melt.
Done. Time to cut and eat!
Delicious.
Such a great weekend lunch. Eat up and enjoy.
