Sewing: Batman Baby Blanket
Batman baby blanket – it’s the perfect shower gift, birth gift, or just because gift. The blanket is easy to make, versatile since it can be used as a swaddling blanket or a play mat. Sew one up today!
What You Need
- quilting cotton 32×42
- soft backing 32×42
- matching thread
- scissors
- machine
- iron
Once you gather your fabric, cut it to size. The finished blanket will measure 30×40.
Basically, you’re making one huge burp cloth, the only trick here – ensuring the fabric doesn’t twist or crinkle on you. Then your blanket will look sloppy – but there is a trick!
Okay – iron out both pieces of fabric and pin one side together. Serge.
Now, once it’s serged, put it back on the ironing board and iron out the blanket again, matching up another end (I start with a short end and then move clockwise). Keep going until you’re on the fourth side, ironing in between each side, of course. Be sure to leave a spot to turn it right side out.
Turn the blanket right side out and iron. Now pin closed the opening you used to turn it. Top stitch all around the blanket, about 1/2 inch inward.
Done!
Time for the label.
The trick of ironing between serging the edges give you a nice professional looking blanket – the edges even look good!
Now this batman set it almost complete. Next time, pee-pee tee-pees!
