Travel: Akumal Snapshot

Here is a little Akumal snapshot – we’re staying about 100km south of Cancun in Quintana Roo, Mexico. The town is small, yet has a lot of personality.

This is technically the second time we’ve been to Mexico, yet I might say the first time we’ve vacationed here. Our other trip was a day stop in Tijuana back in 2014.

Oh, and if you were curious, we’ve done pretty well by just packing for Mexico in a carry on. It’s been great!

My favourite thing about Akumal? The food – it’s delicious.

From beach days, to reading quietly by the pool, all the way the swimmable lagoon, Akumal has so much to offer. The warm days are pretty wonderful, though. That freezing Edmonton January and February got to my bones this year and I’m so happy to have warmed up.

Over the course of our vacation we hope to try some good eats, cook a few ourselves and venture out to some historical sites, a sink hole, and maybe get some snorkeling in. Oh, and read a book or two and catch up on some much needed sleep – we’ve been burning the candle at both ends.
