Travel: Double Head Viewpoint

Double Head Viewpoint

Double Head Viewpoint is an awesome little hike just outside of Kinka Beach in Queensland, Australia. It’s less than 45 minutes, and worth checking out. You can see the marina on one side and the beach on the other. Not to mention the amazing rock face – it’s amazing!

Okay, let’s check out some photos and I’ll share a few tidbits about our hike.

First, watch out for snakes – you’ll see what I mean in a few photos.

See – I told you to watch out for snakes! We saw a few sunning on this afternoon hike and you best bet we were careful! No way we wanted to test out the Australian health care system (although we hear it’s great!).

Second tip – bring some water, especially if it’s a hot day. When you hike Double Head you can see Bluff Point on the other side of the beach. We did both in the same day, so it was fun to see where we had just hiked.

Here are a couple more photos of the view. Doesn’t the view just make you want to run away from winter? It’s minus ten here in Northern Alberta today, snowing and all and I just want to run. Don’t get me wrong, I love our home! And snow in November or December is most certainly welcome, yet not in October. Okay, back to the view.

Now, what makes this hike super special is the rock face. You have to get all the way to the edge, though, to see it. Worth it!

Cool, eh!

Once you’re done, you can make your way to Pebble Beach – it’s super cool, too. It’s a little alcove between Double Head Point and the marina. The rocks are worth checking out there, too. Just be careful, since it’s the perfect place to roll an ankle!
