Travel: Brisbane City Hall
Brisbane City Hall is an awesome place to visit if you’re in the Queensland area. It’s free, informative, and fun! Okay, let’s check out some photos.
Brisbane City Hall
The first stones were laid in 1917 and were then found to be out of alignment – yet they saved some sections that were okay – look how old (for Australia, that is), these stones are – neat, eh?
The tour we had was a lot of fun – it was just the two of us and our guide, she told so many fun stories about visitors to the Brisbane City Hall, gifts received, and fun little anecdotes. Here are some of the gifts.
As for the stories, she had one about the door, yet I won’t share since it’s better heard from a guide firsthand! I will say this, though – the door does open, even now as it’s on display.
These renderings are in the basement – which is such a neat place to visit. We saw the mayor in the halls down there! The cafeteria is beautiful, and the history is magical.
One piece of history is that during the second world war the City Hall housed soldiers who were rehabilitating back into Australian life – they signed this wall which was uncovered during some renovations. Again, neat, eh?
One of the most stunning features is the celling – check it out!
Also, these plaques were neat, too.
The centre stage is a new edition – we couldn’t check it out since they were using it as a film set (a local 80’s movie) on the day we visited. If you visit, I hope you get to check out the stage!
Well, there you have it, some photos of Brisbane City Hall – check out the tour if you get a chance.
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy travelling and I’ll see you again soon – bye.
