Travel: Etihad Museum
The Etihad Museum is a must see if you’re in Dubai. And, if you’re Canadian (like us!), then it’s extra special since it was designed by Moriyama and Teshima Architects, incredible Canadian architects. The design was a manuscript being held by seven columns. The seven columns represent the seven pens that signed the original deceleration – neat, eh? Okay, let’s checkout the inside.
Etihad Museum
First up, the museum will take you about an hour to 90 minutes. It was a short walk from our hotel and we visited as soon as they opened, which was perfect since it was quiet. Second, the museum provides insight into the history of the United Arab Emirates. Plus, it also explains how the UAE came to be – quite the history lesson, if you ask me. Okay, photo time!
The museum has a lot of interactive components and two auditoriums where you can learn and watch about the UAE history. Plus, a lot of information was shared in English, which is wonderful for us. It was neat to see the various ways in which information is shared.
As you can see, I had a lot of fun at this museum – I learned way more than I thought possible, really. I didn’t know there were originally 9 emirates – the other two being Bahrain and Qatar. Wild, eh?
Okay, another little tip. If you can, ask a guide to take you to the estate rooms. This is where some of the official business took place, from the palace halls to the round room, it’s neat. And, this is the site of the first UAE flag ever flown. It’ll be a little warm since you’ll have to walk outside, yet worth it!
Well, there you have it – the Etihad Museum. The building alone is stunning and worth the visit.
Thanks for stopping by and happy travelling!
See you again soon.
