Travel: Ibis Styles Kyoto
Ibis Styles Kyoto Station is in an amazing location – directly across the street from the main train station in Kyoto. Plus, there’s a Family Mart just down the street. It’s clean, safe, and comfortable for a handful of nights. Okay, let’s check out some photos.
Ibis Styles Kyoto
There are two Ibis hotels in Kyoto and we stayed at the one right across the street from the station. The other one is a few blocks back, so still within about a 10 minute walk to the station. One thing I didn’t know before booking, though, was how long it takes to actually navigate through the train station. Often times Google would let us know that the train would arrive in say 10 minutes, and would indicate it would take us 8 minutes to get to the platform. No, it would take about 14 minutes (waiting to cross the street and then queueing up for the escalators, takes time).
With that, we’re so happy we stayed at the closer location. They provide night clothes, slippers, and have wi-fi which is key. The bed is comfortable and there’s enough room to spread out. More room than in Tokyo!
The bathroom was clean and the water was hot. All things you want in a hotel. They also have great security, and baggage storage for no cost. When we left Kyoto we didn’t leave until 3pm and they kept our bags safe all day long. Plus, when we came to pick them up, even after the staff changed shift, we just showed our tag and were on our way quickly. Very efficient.
All in all, Ibis Styles Kyoto is a good place to stay – and if you don’t stay here, stay close to the station at least!
Thanks for stopping by – see you again soon.
