Travel: Kyoto Snapshot
Kyoto snapshot! We just finished up four days in Kyoto and it’s a beautiful city – worth visiting. We spent time eating more ramen, hiking, checking out gardens, and seeing some sights. The city is far less busy than Tokyo (except for the main train station – Kyoto station), so the slower pace was a nice change. Okay, let’s check out some photos.
Kyoto Snapshot
After travelling on the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto (only a little over 2 hours) we got some eats and visited Kyoto Tower – check out this Jetson looking building!
The view is awesome – that’s Kyoto station below.
We checked out some local sights, the imperial palace, the castle, and a few gardens, too. We did quite a bit more walking in Kyoto than we did in Tokyo. Probably because the city isn’t as big, but also because the train stations are a little less inter-twined (although, don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of subways!).
In Kyoto we tried some soy milk ramen – so good! It’s not the kind of ramen I could eat every day, not like the clean kind we had in Tokyo, yet still fantastic!
Okay – some photos of the sights. Below we’ve got the palace, a castle, the botanical gardens, and a temple. Enjoy.
All in all we had a blast in Kyoto. We ate well, had some great hikes, and enjoyed the warm days filled with sunshine and snacks. A small handful of days left here in Japan and then it’s home time for us. One of the best parts about travelling is having a nice home, a fluffy dog (we miss you Daphne!), and a good life to return home to. I’m so grateful for our adventures and our life at home – all is grand!
Okay, we’re off – thanks for stopping by and checking out this Kyoto snapshot.
Safe travels and see you again soon!
