Travel: Qasr Al Watan
The Qasr Al Watan is a must see in Abu Dhabi – it’s a presidential palace that hosts political meetings, members of state, and diplomatic functions. The building is massive and full of a lot of history. If you visit, you’ll feel like royalty. Okay, let’s check out so many photos!
Qasr Al Watan
First up, if you have the opportunity to buy the tickets beforehand, then do it! The line can be very long. You’ll buy your tickets ahead of time and then get in line for the bus. If you can, try and sit near the front of the bus so you can see the spectacular drive. Plus, take time on your way in to check out the courtyard.
The sun is bright since there’s so much white stone – close to blinding with the molten sun!
Up next, be sure to check out the first room to the right. It has the most wild chairs – I felt like a wee person in them, it’s cool! Then you’ll get to see a quick video on what feels like a promotion for the palace. It’s neat to see it all dressed up for meeting and events.
Once you head deeper into the building, you’ll see plaques and can head in any direction you like.
Up next we checked out some of the finer details that were on display – check out this tile.
This mother of pearl mosaic is so beautiful and I can only imagine how heavy it is – the purple of the dome is my favourite. Also, the photo doesn’t capture the light as well as I would have hoped, since the shine in person is mesmerizing.
Up next, all the extravagant rooms!
The library! It doesn’t show, but we couldn’t get too close since there are barriers to prevent people from going over and touching the books. I’ll admit, I wanted to get closer!
Well, there you have it – the Qasr Al Watan – don’t forget to enjoy the view of downtown on your way out.
Thanks for stopping by and happy travelling!
See you again soon.
