Travel: Rainbow Street

Rainbow Street

Rainbow Street in Reykjavik, Iceland is a must see, especially if you’re in the area. We stopped by for a stroll after visiting the tower at the Hallgrimskirkja Church. The area is full of life, good vibes, and has some awesome shops to check out. Okay, I’ll share some vibrant photos below!

Okay, first and foremost, I’ll be shocked if you visit Reykjavik and don’t come across the famous Rainbow Street. Seriously, if you walk the common main street, the Laugavegur, you’ll come to a junction of the colourful and popular street. It’s in the downtown area and is full of art, it’s close to the waterfront, and it’s safe, comfortable, and the people are friendly.

We spent about 30-45 minutes on the street popping in and out of shops, checking out art – from paintings to photographs, and pottery to sculptures, the street is packed with diversity. Plus, we even ventured into a few clothing stores to check out the Icewear brand. If you’ve been to Iceland, you know what we’re talking about. You’ll see Icewear everywhere!

The day was so beautiful, the sun was bright and the rain stayed away.

Although we didn’t eat on Rainbow Street, there are a lot of cafes and restaurants if you’re up for a snack or a meal.

Well, there you have it – the famous colourful street in Iceland’s capital.

Most people walk around in Reykjavik, yet if you’ve got a car, know that street parking is few and far between in the area. Visit if you can, it’s worth it – explore the shops, the pedestrian friendly road, and all that the heart of Reykjavik has to offer.

Oh, and if you get lucky with the weather, like we did, grab a coffee, find a bench, and people watch! If you’re a fan of dogs, you’ll see a few, too.

Happy travelling – see you again soon!
