Travel: Reykjavik Sights
Reykjavik Sights – if you’re travelling to Iceland and you’re spending time in Reykjavik, there are many, many sights to see that aren’t traditional museums or ‘must-do’ items. These are some highlights from our visit that we saw on our walks.
First and foremost, be sure to check out the harbour! Okay, here are some of the sights.
Reykjavik Sights
The harbour – get on your walking shoes and check it out. It’s great for people watching, understanding the daily life on the water, and seeing some pretty neat interactions! We grabbed a few snacks and a hot coffee and headed out on a morning walk and it was so much fun.
Another sight is the main walk – the Laugavegur main street. Be sure you take your time to see the buildings and the history. Plus, the buildings all around, actually. Take the time, slow down, and be present in your surroundings!
There’s also a lot of street art, graffiti, and old signs (no more McDonalds!) to check out.
Two other sights I wanted to share was the library and the cemeteries in Reykjavik – they’re neat, don’t you think?!
The library was a lot of fun to check out, as we happened to see it while we were checking out the photography museum. I don’t know about you, but I love local libraries. And, the cemetery was a neat experience on our walk to the national museum.
All in all, it’s a lot of fun to walk around cities, since you see neat things like this up close and personal. It’s the best way to travel and experience a city.
Well, there you go – some fun sights to check out while you’re travelling around this wonderful European country. Be sure to bring a raincoat, some comfortable waking shoes, and check things out! You’ll have a blast.
Happy travelling!
