Travel: Windy Point Ridge
Windy Point Ridge is a 5km hard hiking trail in Nordegg, Alberta. It’s gives you an awesome view of Lake Abraham, and has a nice trailhead area where you can park, have a picnic, and even take a dip to cool off if you like! Okay – let’s check out some of these photos of us, and Daphne, too! Let’s hike.
Windy Point Ridge
First before we jump into some photos, how do we find trails? All Trails of course! Great site, and you can download maps for off the grid when needed. Here are the screen shots of the Windy Point Ridge trail.
What I love most about All Trails are all the reviews – you can read from various other hikers what recent conditions are like. Also, most update if the trail is dog friendly or not – total bonus!
Okay, time for some photos of our hike.
This massive piece of steel was about 100m in – and fun experience – I touched it, trying to figure out what it was made of and on the way down, Daphne couldn’t stop smelling the same panel I touched.
Family photo time! Daph didn’t want to partake, haha.
She just wanted to rest and take in the view.
Look how steep the trail is – this is why it’s hard, not to mention the scrambling you might experience.
Daphne was a hiking expert – finding shade when needed and did super well on the uneven ground. She’s a keeper!
Overall, the view is worth the hike!
Having some snacks and a picnic at the trailhead when you’re done is the perfect reward – that view! Abraham Lake is truly beautiful.
Hiking is one of my favourite activities, perhaps since it can be easy or hard, and offers some of the best views around, which aren’t possible any other way. Okay – hope you’re having a great week and happy hiking!
Thanks so much for visiting and I’ll see you again soon.
