    CalTech…I’m a nerd!

CalTech Some people like to visit stadiums in cities they visit, museums or even local landmarks. Me, I live to visit university campuses – I’m a nerd, I know. I was 12 when my dad took me and my brother to Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. He had a coaches football conference and I got to wander the university (taking pictures on a very old camera)…I felt inspired, like I was a part of a secret or inner world. When it came time to…

Los Angeles Shopping…The Grove & Rodeo Drive

The Grove Where to shop in Los Angeles?…The Grove!  My mom visited LA a few years ago and raved about The Grove, plus, I think TMZ films there from time to time. Lots of places to shop and lots of places to eat. Gossip is a pretty big thing in LA, as well as in a 15 year olds life, but I’m not 15, so LA it is! Food Truck Wonderland

Edmonton has maybe a handful of food trucks – nothing too exciting. Popular shows, such as Eat St. and The Great Food Truck Race have made the mobile kitchen quite an intriguing dining experience. We arrived at 4:30 and most trucks opened around 5 – the best part, we got…

I stopped at a few local butchers, but most were lamb roasts and I wanted something with the bone in. Oddly enough, our local grocery…

    Santa Monica Pier

Santa Monica Pier On our recent trip to Los Angeles many mentioned visiting Santa Monica Pier.  I was excited for a couple of silly reasons – seeing the famous ferris wheel that opens up Private Practice made me giddy!  Silly, I know.  More than that, though, it’s a good place to people watch, surf, do the tourist thing (including getting pick pocketed – we saw 2 men speaking to police…so be careful). Interesting to note, the Pier was originally built to cover up a sewage…
