American Thanksgiving 2022
American Thanksgiving 2022 is full of some old classics. From my Nana’s gravy mug to some good old fashioned cornbread, this meal is flat out comfort food. Let’s get cooking!
Recipes
These recipes might not be too fancy, but the food is comfort for the soul!
A few weeks ago at work we had a Wellness Wednesday event that was focused around cooking. One of my fellow colleagues asked – what’s your favourite meal?! Many shared about Mom’s or Grandma’s cooking. It’s so clear that food brings people together and creates memories. This is probably why Thanksgiving is one of my favourite holidays.
No gifts, no unnecessary decorations, just the heart of it – people coming together and some good food. It’s the best. It also helps that I love potatoes! Okay, time for some some food!
This quick and easy cabbage corn salad is one of my go-to items. You can add pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries, and feta cheese. On this holiday I added poppyseed dressing – one of my favourites!
And the potatoes – I could eat (and do!) so many potatoes.
Memories
What’s your favourite Thanksgiving memory?
I’ve got a few! I remember as a kid I hated that I had to wait all weekend to see family on the Canadian Thanksgiving Monday. I found it odd – why not see people on Saturday and have your heart filled for the rest of the weekend. Now, even though it’s just me and Bryce, we celebrate on the Saturday. On the flip side, with the American Thanksgiving, I feel like they’ve got it right – celebrate on Thursday and enjoy the leftovers the rest of the weekend. Love it!
Okay, onto memories. Dropping pumpkin pies, not coming home for Canadian Thanksgiving my first year of university, and my Nana’s gravy. Heartwarming memories, for sure!
Well, there you have it – some classic American Thanksgiving recipes. I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday. Soak up the company and enjoy some good eats.
Thanks for visiting and I’ll see you again soon! Bye for now.
