Sewing: Week Forty Eight: White Bat Wing Dress Tutorial
The bat wing dress is back. I made this back in April of 2014 and it’s such an easy and fun sewing tutorial. My original post – bat wing dress – lead you back to Mollytov’s site for the full tutorial, however, it’s now gone. As a result, here (after searching the internet and piecing bits of info together) I have a version of the tutorial – all you’ll need. What You Need 2 yards of jersey stretch fabric matching thread serger scissors pins iron…

Travel: The Royal Palace Phnom Penh
The Royal Palace in Phnom Penh is well worth the visit – the colours, the beauty, the clear blue sky that seems so ridiculously in balance with the gold is well worth the time. Your camera will also love you. This place is right around the corner from the National Museum – visit both in one afternoon and you’ll feel so much richer. Here are some of my photos of The Royal Palace Phnom Penh. The Grounds The buildings are so intricate and delicate that…

Stripped sweatpants with pockets – the perfect weekend uniform! Especially on this chilly snowy day. Put the fireplace on, have some pancakes and lounge around in your sweats. What could be better? Nothing. Okay, let’s get started. Last week we made 6 seam sweatpants and this tutorial takes that one to the next level by adding pockets and a ribbed waistband. What You Need sweatpants as template 1 1/2 yards of stripped fabric 1/2 a yard of matching ribbing serger machine matching thread scissors pins…

Travel: National Museum of Cambodia
The National Museum of Cambodia is in Phnom Penh, the nation’s capital. The museum is full of historical archives, artifacts and cultural history. It’s beautiful and lacks air conditioning (or, air conditioning that I can feel, at least). We visited on a hot afternoon and spent about 2 hours in the museum – we read a lot of the signs and enjoyed the history. It’s tucked away, yet between Wat Phnom and the Royal Palace. So, not too far out of your way at all.…

Travel: The Killing Fields and Genocide Museum
Visiting these two historic sites, The Killing Fields and Genocide Museum, is hard. Not only because of some of the graphic nature, but also because I’m quite ignorant to the events. Why didn’t I learn about this in school? Disappointing. Both locations offer a guided audio tour which is the best way to enjoy the sites. You can move at your own pace, sit and listen intently or skip over stories that are too tragic for you to handle. There is a private nature to…

What You Need 1.5 yards of sweatshirt fleece a pair of sweatpants as a template serger matching thread 1 inch elastic (your waist measurement) pins scissors Okay, first, ensure your sweatshirt fleece is pre-washed.…

Travel: Wat Phnom Phnom Penh Cambodia
Wat Phnom in Phnom Penh Cambodia is a beautiful temple worth visiting. On the afternoon we visited the sun was close to setting casting a light blue hue over the whole place. The grounds are peaceful and many ladies were sitting outside counting money. Wat Phnom, Phnom Penh, Cambodia is the highest religious temple in the city. Well worth the 1$ visit. The View When you first walk up the walkway and the stairs, walk around the temple and take in the view. They city…
