Project: Columnar Norway Spruce Trees
Spruce trees? What? Yes – let’s plant some Columnar Norway Spruce trees. We finished the split rail fence a few weeks ago and we wanted to highlight the end where it opens up to the driveway. What better way than with some stunning trees. These trees are perfect for our climate and they will grow to be quite big – 6 feet wide by 20 feet tall. Okay, time to plant them! Columnar Norway Spruce Trees First, pick out your trees. We found these trees…

Project: Split Rail Fence
The split rail fence – sometimes summer home or property improvements end up being a far lager feat than you ever anticipated. This fence was just that – a huge feat! First, the drive way is more than 250 feet long and we wanted more than 220 feet of it fenced – both sides. That’s 44 post holes and more than 120 rails. The task of treating them all took about 8 hours, 4 hours twice. We treated the wood since we want it to…

Travel: Paddleboarding
Paddleboarding on Christina Creek! This summer we spent a little over a week in Christina Lake with family – that’s where we were headed when we stopped at Margo’s Farm. The weather was hot and one way to cool off was to take the paddleboards for a spin on the creek. These photos are taken with my iPhone since I don’t have a waterproof bag for my camera, so don’t mind the picture quality. Here we go! Paddleboarding The place we stayed at backed up…

Travel: Margo’s Farm
Margo’s farm – the best peaches and cherries I’ve ever had. On our recent trip to British Columbia this summer we stopped over in Fernie, BC. One of the main reasons is because we wanted to take advantage of some of the farmer’s markets along the way. Farmer’s markets are just the best – they’re full of so much goodness and wonderful people. Cranbrook and Creston both hold markets on Saturdays in the summer. So, we left on Friday, stayed in the Boler in Fernie…

Ingredients 1/2 cup of pumpkin 1 cup of soy milk a large egg 2 tablespoons of yogurt 1 1/4 cup of gluten free flour 2 teaspoons of baking powder 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda…

Project: 1978 Boler After
After racing down to Lethbridge to buy the original 1978 Boler we had a lot of time to talk about how we wanted to fix it up – what to keep (the double bunk), what to get rid of (those orange curtains) and what to add (a toilet). The process of discussing and planning is just about as much fun as the doing. All in all, we love how it turned out. Check out these photos of our 1978 Boler project. If you want to…

Project: 1978 Boler Before
This is our 1978 Boler Project. It was a snowy Sunday morning and the plan was to hangout around the house and then head to the movies to see John Wick 2. Bryce was sitting at the counter while I was making a late breakfast, early lunch. Ali! There’s a Boler for sale in Lethbridge and it’s awesome. Call him! What? Call him now and tell him we’ll buy it. Okay! Bryce called and within about 3 minutes it was decided, we were not going…
