Recipe: Loaded Hot Dog
Loaded hot dog – or should I say, loaded hot dogs! A few weeks back I mentioned the Bon Appetit July cover and the display of gourmet hot dogs, well, here I try and make some hot dog magic. Don’t get me wrong, they’re certainly not gourmet, but they are delicious. Fire up the BBQ and let’s get cooking!
Ingredients
- soft hot dog buns (or corn tortillas for gluten free)
- Italian chicken sausage
- Natural chicken hot dog
- buffalo chicken sausage
- cilantro cream cheese sauce
- tomatoed onions
- shredded red cabbage
- blue cheese dressing
First, make your blue cheese slaw – mix about 1 cup of shredded red cabbage with a heaping spoonful of chunky blue cheese dressing. Then, gather your cilantro cream cheese sauce and tomatoed onions while the BBQ heats up.
Get the buns ready – nothing better than cheese buns (even if I don’t eat gluten, I can appreciate these buns!).
Grill up the hot dogs and let’s get ready to load them up. The loaded hot dog, here we come.
The Italian sausage gets the tomatoed onions, the buffalo chicken sausage gets the blue cheese slaw and the natural chicken hot dog gets the cilantro cream cheese sauce.
Here’s my version, with gluten free tortillas – they’re still loaded hot dogs, right?
Eat up and enjoy what’s left of summer. These loaded hot dogs won’t last long so eat up.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your week – happy Tuesday.
