    Travel: Royal British Columbia Museum

The Royal British Columbia Museum is a great place to spend the morning if you’re out and about in Victoria. Plus, the IMax is usually a fun experience. Royal British Columbia Museum On the day we visited, May 17, it was the very first day of the Mayan Exhibit. Pretty neat seeing as how we just visited Mexico this past winter. Something that was interesting is that on the plaques on the walls, like at most museums, they had little stories. Well, some of them…

    Travel: Victoria Eats

Victoria eats 2019 – some of our favourite places to eat in Victoria. We had some places we didn’t enjoy so much (Cafe Mexico, Be Love) yet they’d still get a 6/10. Just not worth it in my opinion. All of these places below – at least an 8 or 9, if not 10 out of 10. First up, La Taqueria Pinche Taco Shop. They’re open late and offer some upscale tacos that bring some big flavours. This is the same chain from our Vancouver…

    Travel: Embassy Inn Review

Staying in the harbour area of Victoria can be expensive, yet it’s worth it for the walk ability around the downtown area. There are so many parks, palaces to see, and delicious restaurants. The Embassy Inn offered a fair value and is a clean hotel. We paid 145$ per night, since I booked back in January and took advantage of the 35% off if I paid at the time of booking. Score! We got a room with two beds since we had all of our…

    Travel: British Columbia Parliament Buildings

The British Columbia Parliament Buildings are the centre of Victoria – it faces the harbour and ties the city together. In Alberta, the Legislative Buildings aren’t as central, since they’re tucked away and sort of out of site. I like how in Victoria the buildings aren’t shy. Inside you can get free tours or take yourself on the self-guided tour – they have a lot of info on their visiting the legislature site. The older I get the more fascinating I find the political history…

    Travel: West Coast Trail

The West Coast Trail is 75km long, 231 meters high (yet you go up and down so many times) and it usually takes between 5-7 days to complete the trek. Our group did the hike in 5 days, 5 nights (noon on Thursday to noon on Tuesday). Yet with travel time to and from, it took a full 6 days. Here I’ll share some tips about our trip, what we liked, and what we recommend. Want to know about how we prepared for the trip?…

    Travel: West Coast Trail Prep

West Coast Trail Prep – say what? Yes, we’re hiking the west coast trail starting tomorrow. We flew to Victoria with all our gear and are taking the trail bus to Gordon River. Then it’s time for the real work – hiking the 75 KM from south to north. I’m excited! And, there is no way any of this would have been possible without the support of our family. From Christmas gifts to Easter socks, we’re well prepared and know we’re well loved. Links First,…

    Travel: 3 Days in Vancouver

Three days in Vancouver – what to do, what to see and what to eat! Here is what we did while in the fabulous Van-City. Time Square Suites This place is perfect for a few nights stay – they have parking, a kitchen and a Whole Foods is just two blocks away. Science World On the Sunday afternoon we visited Science World and saw a movie in the OMNIMAX. Games, puzzles and a bit of learning – so much fun, overall, we spent about 4…
