Travel: Mona Lisa
Seeing the Mona Lisa is such a great experience. Visiting the Louvre is awesome, although I like the Musée d’Orsay better – I’m a painting person. First, expect to wait – and then wait – and then wait some more. All in all, we waited 45 minutes to see her (and only for 3 minutes, I might add). Seems silly, right? Well, if you like people, or like people watching rather, than this is a lot of fun. Seeing the Mona Lisa This is line…

Travel: Gallery of Coaches
Gallery of Coaches – it’s an exhibit that’s just outside of the Palace of Versailles. It’s free to attend or perhaps no one checked us for tickets. Or, maybe it’s included in your palace tour ticket. Either way, it’s worth the stop to check out all of these beautiful carriages. Some for travel, others for ceremonies – like funerals or coronations. Gallery of Coaches It’s a little hard to find – see the little sign on the second post from the right – that’s the…

Travel: Musical Gardens Versailles
The Musical Gardens at Versailles – they are beautiful and especially so on a bright and sunny day. Most often you can get the gardens included in your ticket, yet they’re not included in the Paris Museum Pass. We purchased the tickets separately. While we enjoyed ourselves, the added cost of seeing the gardens wasn’t quite worth it. Musical Gardens Versailles We spent about 45 minutes exploring the grounds which I can only image cost a fortune to upkeep. One thing we noted, however, is…

Travel: Palace of Versailles
Palace of Versailles is about an hour outside of Paris by train. We train hopped twice and made it in about 48 minutes with a 12 minute walk through the city of Versailles. Arrive early, since as you can see from the photo above, the line is long to get through security. Took us about 45 minutes to get into the palace. Once in we used our phones with the Palace of Versailles app to listen to the in-depth tour of the royal residence. Palace…

Travel: Musée d’Orsay
The Musée d’Orsay is worth the visit – to me, it’s better than any other museum in Paris and quite possibly my favourite museum of all time. It’s full of so much impressionist art and I could sit there and stare at it all day long. Not to mention the location of this place is beautiful. Right by the river with all the boats and traffic, so urban and cosmopolitan. Musée d’Orsay Our first stop at the Musée – the Upper Level 5. Full of…

Travel: Arc de Triomphe
The Arc de Triomphe is a monument in Paris and it’s a memorial to honour the soldiers who fought in the fought and died for France in the Revolutionary and Napoleon Wars. There are 660 names inscribed in the stone. Arc de Triomphe The monument isn’t very tall – only about 13 floors, yet when you’re walking it up certainly feels like a lot! If you’re looking to get a pic right in front of the arch like we did above, you’ll have to dart…

Travel: Las Vegas Snapshot
We’re in Las Vegas! So, let’s check out this Las Vegas Snapshot for a quick little highlight of our trip thus far. With 3 nights and 4 full, very full days, we’ve done a lot and still have a lot to do! Leaving the freezing cold of Edmonton (it was -44 with the windchill in the past week – happy we’re not there, now) for the warm fall-like days of January in Nevada, we’re happy. Happy sleeping in, seeing shows (oh, the shows!) and enjoying…
