Travel: 2 Days in Mission Beach
2 days in Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia – what a place! Mission Beach is full of hikes, some of the best Thai food we’ve ever had, and is a great place for a little visit as you travel the east coast of Queensland.
Listed below are some of the highlights of our stop in Mission Beach – and we saw a kangaroo or a wallaby for the first time, in the wild ta-boot!
2 Days in Mission Beach
First up, where to stay – we spent two nights at Mission Reef Resort and it was perfect for the two nights. If you’re staying longer, then you might want to get a one bedroom apartment to have a bit more space.
The rooms are clean and the pool is a great space to cool down after a hot hike.
If you’re looking to spend some time by the water, head down to the Kennedy Bay Trail and hike around the lookout. Be sure to go during daylight hours, though! The breeze is wonderful and the fauna is vastly different than anything we’ve seen.
Now, if you’re in the mood for a more difficult hike, check out Mount Tyson. It’s difficult for sure. Feels straight up, many spiders and the trail was super quiet – we were the only ones on the trail.
Lastly, the food. The Spicy Thai Hut (be sure you make a reservation) is some of the best Thai food we’ve ever had, and we’ve been to Thailand! We ordered two dishes. First, the Pad Ped Spicy Sauce, which is the creamy one below. And also the Pad Krapow, the one with basil sauce. So good. Both Bryce and myself liked the Pad Ped better, but the other was still very good.
The Spicy Thai Hut is worth checking out if you’re ever within a 2-3 hour driving distance.
All in all, we really enjoyed our time in Mission Beach. Be sure to check it out if you’re ever in the area! Happy travelling.
