Travel: Kennedy Bay Trail

Kennedy Bay Trail

Kennedy Bay Trail is a hiking path outside of Mission Beach in Queensland, Australia. It’s a mix of both inland and beach hiking with some beautiful views. Let’s hike!

Kennedy Bay Trail

First, there are various trails you can take, Morgans Lookout is about an hour from the entrance, you can do a short stink to Lugger Bay, or just a bit past to check out the Mije Creek (watch out for crocodiles!).

We ventured out just before sunset and got caught on the way back in the dark. Not something I would recommend. We heard just a bit too much scurrying around in the forest part for my liking and having only been in Australia for 4-5 days, I wasn’t ready to take on any wildlife just yet. Hike during daylight hours!

Okay, let’s check out some photos. The hike is a mix of trail, beach, and some rock faces. Depending on the tide, you might get caught and need to either get wet or take off your shoes. We decided to tackle the rock faces and not get wet at all.

It’s the view stunning?! It’s wild how calming the view from Australia can be – not something I would have imagined, but it’s just so peaceful.

On our way back, just before Mije Creek, we caught a glimpse of some wild wallaby hanging out with some farm cows. Check out this hop-a-long-harry guy jump!

What a sight! It was super neat to see them in the wild.

Oh, and if you’re heading to Mije Creek, watch out for the cocodiles.

Kennedy Bay Trail

Overall, a great way to spend an early morning or a pre-dinner hike. Be sure to check out the Kennedy Bay Trail if you’re in the Mission Beach area.
