Travel: Bahrain Sights
Bahrain sights – the city of Manama is the capital of Bahrain and there are a few things to do outside of the major attractions. Here are some of our photos – we walked a lot and took in the sights.
Bahrain Sights
First up we’ve got Juffair Beach – it’s not really a beach, though. Don’t be fooled! The walk was a lot of fun, checking out various shops, and the view. At the beach there are a few food trucks, people fishing, and the city scape is cool to check out.
Up next, the Bahrain crest outside the mall. The architecture is different in Bahrain compared to Canada, the shapes of the buildings (like sails) and the single pain windows (wild!). The crest has a crown, which is neat, yet fitting since it’s actually the Kingdom of Bahrain. Out of all the places we visited in the Middle East, it was the one place we needed to pay on entry (about $40 Canadian per person for the visa on arrival) – however, the customs office was the nicest we’ve ever experienced.
Another part of Manama that’s interesting is that the ground is engineered or dirt. Bricks were a common choice, as well as stone. When we walked to the beach I was happy I wore my throw-in-the-wash shoes!
The other interesting sight is the airport – there is only one civic airport in the whole country of Bahrain. Understandable, though, since the country is the size about the size of the Edmonton capital region. Wild, eh?!
Okay, so the airport is full of modern art and video games. Yes, they have racing games (if you know, you know).
Well, there you have it, a few Bahrain sights. We of course shared a few of the bigger must-do attractions, like the Bahrain Fort, the Souq, and the National Museum, yet these other smaller things to do are special in their own way, too.
See you again soon!
